Salomon XA Pro 3D

The Salomon XA Pro 3D is one of the most googled running shoes and one that has more reviews out there, as many runners choose this French brand for their runs. There are currently two different models: the Salomon XA Pro 3D and the Salomon XA Pro 3D XCR US, which the only difference between both shoes is the latter having Goretex as the base fabric, thus giving them its waterproof quality. Below, some reviews and ratings I’ve put together that confirms my own opinion about these shoes.

First, some reviews by runners posting their own experiences:

And second, a table with a list of reviews and ratings (mostly from on-line stores):

    Hi all

    Kind regards

The new XA Pro 3D Ultra (available since spring 2008) has now more cushioning in the forefoot and so more shock absorption and is also less stiff. I’ve been using these shoes for quite some time and I think Salomon has addressed the only two complains that I had with them

I’m in the XA Pro 3D XCR (last year’s model). This is the Gore-tex version, which has done wonders for my trail running up here in the NorthWest where the trails are wet & sloppy 9 months out of the year. The shoe also has great stability as I have ankle issues. I’ve also used the shoe quite a bit as a hiking shoe and it works well.

The two complaints I have are 1) They get hot when I run in 75+ degree heat (which isn’t often) because of the Gore-Tek. I did do a 50 miler in them in 90+ degree and the feet held up good besides being hot. 2) The plastic lacing lugs will hurt and bruise the top of your foot on 1000+ foot descents. They have corrected this and the new version doesn’t use plastic, but a nylon mesh instead.

Just wanted to shout out how good the XA Pro 3D Ultra still is. I own a pair an they feel so reassuring but so light.

We also sell them in the UK:

    Love em!!

Got something to say?
