Williams has recreated this long-forgotten sports event, mixing colorful anecdotes from the race with vivid portraits of the runners.     C.C Pyle’s Amazing Foot Race is a great read – I didn’t want to put it down. On the other hand, the books format of chapters consisting of daily reports makes the book great bedtime reading. Highly recommended!
