Tunes or No Tunes

The debate on mp3 players on running races is still alive – and will be for a while. In this occasion, David Manthey, an RRCA-certified running coach who owns Runner’s Edge of the Rockies, a half-, full- and ultra-marathon training program in Denver, gives his reasoned opinion on this subject. And he makes it clear that he is on the ‘no tunes’ side. Some of his arguments:
- being run down by a bicycle or bigger vehicle
- solo women runners increase the risk of being attacked
- headphones as a leading cause of long-term hearing loss
- taking your body out of its natural rhythm and pace because of beat changes
