STORMY 2008 begins today with the 100 mile ultra marathon and the 50 mile ultra and team relay will follow tomorrow at 6:00AM. The event takes place at the Brennan Park Recreation Centre in Squamish, BC Canada and will see around 30 participants line up for the 100, around 60 for the 50 mile solo and 17 teams for the relay course.
The course is a single 50-mile loop is approximately 97% trails or forest service roads and 3% paved roads with an elevation gain is approximately 6000 feet. All participants will enjoy the pool, hot tub and showers at the finish line as well as a good, family-oriented party. The event has been going since 2001 and this year will be the 2008 ACU National 50 Mile Trail Championships. All STORMY proceeds are contributed towards local community service groups.
