One of the articles featured on this month’s issue of Runner’s World analyzes in depth if age is a key element to achieve great performances and to be among the Olympus of world’s best endurance runners. Based on the recent accomplishments of different athletes on both ends of age spectrum – Samuel Wanjiru, 21, who broke the Olympic record in Beijing 08, or 38-year-old mother Constantina Tomescu-Dita who won the women’s event – RW posed several questions to top physiologists, statisticians, coaches, and elite athletes. The article tries to answer the ultimate question: is there an ideal age to run your best marathon? As the article states, looks like the answer of those experts “paint a picture that offers lots of encouragement to runners of all ages and talents.
