Revised Petzl Tikka and Zipka Headlamps

New versions of Petzl headlamps will be out soon. Actually, if I’m not wrong, they might be already available in Europe. But North America will have to wait until September to test their newest products.  The French manufacturer has updated its entire Tikka, Zipka headlamps lineup improving performance and adding new features.

The new headlamps are equipped with the very latest LEDs and have improved the overall battery life. Tikka2 Plus, Zipka2 Plus and Tikka2 XP have now a red light that can be switched between continuous and blinking and the entire series (except the Tikkina2, the base model) have now a three white lighting modes (maximum, economic and flashing mode). The switch used to select the lighting mode has been improved and helps to give a new modern look to the product. And speaking of design, the color of the headtorches have been revised too: mistic gray, pistachio, tropical blue and others.

More features. The Plus and XP models have now an interesting battery charge indicator light which will turn on when there is less than 50% of burn time left and all models carry now an IPX4 water resistance rating (which means it’s splash/rain resistant with no gaskets). In terms of brightness, the range is from 23 (Tikkina) to 60 lumens (XP), giving an output from 23meters to 60meters, respectively, at maximum level.

Finally, the range of Tikka2 and Zipka2 models are all compatible with the ADAPT mounting system which allows the user to swap the headlamp to helmet, pack or other different mounts.
