Thanks for the review of the New Balance MT100’s. I bought a pair and wow are they light. I am sure they will be great racing shoes on most trails. But the trails in west Austin, where I train, are extremely rocky and when you go bombing down the hills the MT100’s are just a little too light. Can you recommend a shoe which is light and has a low profile similar to the MT100’s but is a little more rugged.

Robert, you might want to take a look at La Sportiva’s Crosslite. Extremely light shoes but still with good traction.

Great review, the most comprehensive one I’ve seen anywhere on the internet of this shoe. I saw it on sale and I’ve been looking around for a lightweight trail shoe, and I just might go for this one.

BTW, you mentioned the non-removable insoles…did you try putting them in a microwave to soften up the glue? I heard that this works with this particular shoe.

Got something to say?
